It's small village on the coast of Arabian Sea with a long rocky and sandy beach, located in Dahanu taluka, Palghar District, Maharashtra. Nearest station is Dahanu & Vangaon on the either side. Traditionally its a farming village ,during earlier period most of the residents of the village use to go for fishing to the nearby village at Dahanu creek known as Dhakti Dahanu and during monsoon they used to migrate to Gungwada for farming mostly cultivating rice crop. So one can say village used to be crowded for four months of the year during monsoon.
But this village has seen tremondous change in last few years due to its proximity to metro like Mumbai.There has been demographic change in the source of income of the villagers who have now turned to small scale units like preparing artistic dyes required for gold ornaments, most of which are for Indian market and also for export, this has given some good source of livelihood to the villagers.
Residents of this village mostly consist of Bari and Mangela community.
Its really a cool place to be visited, approximately two and half hours from Mumbai suburb by train and three hours by car.
